Brushless DC Motors (BLDCM) are widely used in automated industrial applications like Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinery, aerospace applications and in the field of robotics. But it still suffers from commutation torque which mainly depends on speed and transient line commutation interval. BLDC MOTOR torque ripple causes increased acoustic noise and undesirable speed fluctuation. This paper presents a new circuit topology and dc link voltage current in the control strategy to keep incoming and outgoing phase currents changing at the same rate during commutation. In this paper dc-dc single ended primary inductor converter (SEPIC) a switch selection circuit are employed in front of inverter. In order to obtain the desired commutation voltage resulting in reduced commutation torque ripple. Compared with simulation result conventional system and proposed method can obtain desired voltage much faster and minimize commutation torque ripple more efficiently.Key words:Brushless DC Motor(BLDCM),DC link voltage, Commutation, Single ended primary inductor converter(SEPIC). ×

Green skills model is developed as a reference for implementing green skills in the learning process for primary school students. Elements of green skills need to be applied as early as possible in students to produce citizens who are competent in all aspects and foremost to maintain the environmental balance. Elements of green skills can be used as a value-added in any subject and as a cross-curricular element such as Design and Technology (D&T). Research shows that the country is now passing through a phase of global warming and climate change caused by greenhouse gases. There are quite a number of people who are not aware of environmental problems and take it easy in helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the use of fossil fuels. The concept paper reviewed the policy and the role of government in development and implementation of green technology and community practices to ensure that goal is achieved. A lot of research needs to be done in promoting and improving the existing new energy sources as an alternative renewable technologies to meet the goals of the National Green Technology Policy..Keywords:Environment, Green Skills, Green Technology, Design Technology, Recycle ×

This research presents a detailed account of map generating, comprehensive coverage, path plotting and scheming, as well as control mechanism for a mobile automation robot comprising of the automated ground cleaning of average to small indoor areas as an application objective. The algorithms put forward are centered upon supervised 2D map of the surrounding which is generated during the training phase and have the capacity to deal successfully with unforeseen obstacles which were not determined on the 2D map. The map is generated using dead reckoning algorithm and then an approach relying on templates is used for controlling execution of the path plan. The capability of the robot to deal with generation of the map, detecting unforeseen obstructions inside the work space and localizing itself in the map is the suggested approach's originality. If unmapped obstructions continually block the planned path, the trajectory tracing control inserts these obstacles in the 2D map..Keywords:Automatic Cleaner, SLAM, Artificial Intelligence, Dead Reckoning.. ×

Software engineering is a field of engineering, for designing and writing programs for computers or other electronic devices. A software engineer, or programmer, writes software (or changes existing software) and compiles software using methods that make it better quality. Is the application of engineering to the design, development, implementation, testingand main tenance of software in a systematic method. Now a days the robotics are also plays an important role in present automation concepts. But we have several challenges in that robots when they are operated in some critical environments. Motion planning and task planning are two fundamental problems in robotics that have been addressed from different perspectives. For resolve this there are Temporal logic based approaches that automatically generate controllers have been shown to be useful for mission level planning of motion, surveillance and navigation, among others. These approaches critically rely on the validity of the environment models used for synthesis. In today's scenario threat of enemies and terrorist attack is increasing. Therefore consideration of blast load in analysis and design is essential. A bomb explosion within or nearby outside the building can cause catastrophic failure of building. Blast loads have, in the recent past, become important service loads for certain categories of structure. An important task in blast resistance design is to make a realistic prediction of blast pressure. The distance of explosion from the structure is an important datum, governing the magnitude and duration of blast loads. In the present study, the RCC frame was analyzed by using conventional code for gravity loads using moment resisting frame. The blast load was calculated using UFC-340-02 (2008) or IS 4991-1968 for 500 kg and 100 Kg TNT at standoff distance of 10m and 30m from face of column at first floor level. The energy performance of buildings is defined by their electrical systems and thermal exchanges through the envelope, mainly by glazing systems. This study evaluates, through computer simulation, the influence of glazing façades in the energy consumption of the air conditioning system of an office building in five Brazilian cities with different climate conditions. A computer model was developed to analyze the influence of window-to-wall ratio, type of glass and façade configuration in the energy need for air conditioning. The results show that the energy performance of the building is highly influenced by the configurations of the façade, mainly by glazed elements. In cold climates, high thermal transmittance of the envelope helps the dissipation of internal heat gains, reducing energy consumption for air conditioning.......Keywords:Glazed façades, energy consumption, Brazilian climates, office building. ×

The mechanical design and of a square hole producing tool based on Reuleaux Triangle. The main aim of our papaer is to investigate how the circular motion can be converted into a square motion by purely a mechanical linkages; an application of which is to construct a special tool that drills exact square holes. The geometrical construction that fulfils the laid objective is Reuleaux Triangle . Additionally, for this geometry to work like a rotating drive (such as a drill press) must force the Reuleaux triangle to rotate inside a square, and that requires a square guide to constrain the Reuleaux triangle as well as a special coupling to describe the fact that the center of rotation also in moves within in the constrain. The practical importance of this enhancement is that the driving end can be placed in a standard drill press; the other end is restricted to stay inside the fixed square, will yield a perfectly square locus and this can be turned into a working square-to drill hole. Keywords:Reuleaux , Eccentricity ,Drilling ,EDM, Geometry ×

The main objective of this paper is to control the speed of an induction motor by using seven level diode clamped multilevel inverter and improve the high quality sinusoidal output voltage with reduced harmonics. The presented scheme for diode clamped multilevel inverter is sine carrier Pulse Width Modulation control. An open loop speed control can be achieved by using V/ƒ method. This method can be implemented by changing the supply voltage and frequency applied to the three phase induction motor at constant ratio. The presented system is an effective replacement for the conventional method which has high switching losses, its result ends in a poor drive performance. By means of field observed SSMC dataset collected from the Yihe watershed located on the Linyi district, Shangdong province, China, we analyzed and validated the daily AMER-E SSMC products for the year of 2006 with the focus to examine the products quality of AMER-E SSMC for further studies by using the products. The results suggested that the temporal variation trend of AMER-E remotely sensed SSMC is reasonably consistent to the field observed, but is systematic lower than the ground truth in value in the whole year. The correspondence of AMSR-E SSMC product is significant enough compared with the field observed for the whole year except of the month of July and August.Keywords:AMSR-E, surface soil moisture content (SSMC), validation, micro-wave remote sensing ×

Abstract:
This work primarily addresses the design and implementation of a neural network based controller for the trajectory tracking of a differential drive mobile robot. The proposed control algorithm is an NN-based adaptive controller which tunes the gains of the back-stepping controller online according to the robot reference trajectory and its initial posture. In this method, a neural network is needed to learn the characteristics of the plant dynamics and make use of it to determine the future inputs that will minimize error performance index so as to compensate the back-stepping controller gains. The advantages and disadvantages of theproposed control algorithms will be discussed in each section with illustrations.Comprehensive system modeling including robot kinematics and dynamics modeling has been done. The dynamic modeling is done using Newtonian and Lagrangian methodologies for nonholonomic systems and the results are compared to verify the accuracy of each method. Simulation of the robot model and different controllers has been done using Matlab and Matlab Simulink..Keyword: Back-stepping controller, Dynamic Model ×

The main objective of this investigation is to present the finite element modelling of the dynamic behaviour of a steel-concrete composite footbridge, when subjected to human walking vibrations. The investigated structural system was based on a tubular steel-concrete composite footbridge, spanning 82.5 m. The structural model consists of tubular steel sections and a concrete slab. This investigation is carried out based on correlations between the experimental results related to the footbridge dynamic response and those obtained with finite element modelling. The soil-structure interaction effect was considered in the dynamic analysis based on the use of Winkler's theory. The finite element model enabled a complete dynamic evaluation of the tubular footbridge in terms of human comfort and its associated vibration serviceability limit states. The peak accelerations found in this analysis indicated that the investigated footbridge presented problems related with human comfort and it was detected that the structural system can reach vibration levels that compromise the footbridge user's comfortKey words:Footbridges, Structural dynamics, Soil-structure interaction, Numerical modelling, Human comfort.. ×

Analysis of the vibrational behavior of a system is extremely important, both for the evaluation of operating conditions, as performance and safety reason. The studies on vibration concentrate their efforts on understanding the natural phenomena and the development of mathematical theories to describe the vibration of physical systems. The purpose of this study is to evaluate an undamped system with two-degrees-of-freedom and demonstrate by comparing the results obtained in the experimental, numerical and analytical modeling the characteristics that describe a structure in terms of its natural characteristics. The experiment was conducted in PUC-MG where the data were acquired to determine the natural frequency of the system. The wealth of tiles in Portugal is made of more than the early patterned and the blue on white pictorial panels that cover the interior walls of churches, monasteries and palaces throughout the country and its former possessions. In the first half of the 19th century azulejo workshops found a new market in the owners of recent urban constructions, producing facade tiles widely used subsequently not only in many Portuguese towns but also in Brazil, to where they were exported in large numbers. The new urban look was not unanimously liked at its heyday but as time goes by, the old streets with shiny and often lively coloured facade walls are slowly gaining their place in the lists of municipal heritage worth preserving.........Keywords:Azulejos, glazed tiles, facades, decay, Brazil, Lisbon.. ×

In cloud computing, many mechanisms have been proposed to allow not only a data owner itself but also a public verifier to efficiently perform integrity checking without downloading the entire data from the cloud, which is referred to as public auditing . In these mechanisms, data is divided into many small blocks, where each block is independently signed by the owner; and a random combination of all the blocks instead of the whole data is retrieved during integrity checking .However, public auditing for such shared data— while preserving identity privacy — remains to be an open challenge. Here, we only consider how to audit the integrity of shared data in the cloud with static groups. It means the group is pre-defined before shared data is created in the cloud and the membership of users in the group is not changed during data sharing..............Keywords:Cloud Computing, Data integrity, Public Auditing, Privacy Preserving ×

Power system voltage stability is a one of the major focused areas in recent days due to mismatch between generation and demand. Maintenance of voltage stability is a challenging issue in planning and security assessment of power systems. Voltage stability is the ability of a power system to maintain steady acceptable voltages at all buses in the power system under normal operating conditions and after being subjected to a disturbance. Long-term voltage instability problems can occur in heavily loaded systems where the electrical distance is large between the generator and the load. Timely application of reactive power compensation or load shedding may prevent this type of voltage instabilityKey words:Power System Voltage Stability, Flexible AC transmission System (FACTS), FACTS Controllers, Optimization algorithms, Fault location identification ×

The mechanism of soil-geosynthetic interaction is usually complex and depends on the nature of the reinforcement, as well as on the characteristics of the surrounding soil. The strength parameters of the interface are the key for the design of reinforced soil slopes. Usually, these parameters are defined from laboratory pullout tests. The absence of test results implies on conservative assumptions and higher costs. Thermal Performance of heat transfer devices can be improved by heat transfer enhancement techniques. In the present study, heat transfer from hot air to cold water by double pipe heat exchanger for plain tube and plain tube with twisted inserts is experimentally investigated at isothermal condition. The twisted tape inserts when placed in the path of the flow of the fluid, create a high degree of turbulence resulting in an increase in the heat transfer rate. By inserting twisted tape with twist ratio y=5 and y=7 in a concentric tube heat exchanger, the Nusselt number increases gradually from 920 to 6700 and it is 12-15 % higher than plain tube. This is due to the generation of secondary flow in the tube (turbulence flow). Also the heat transfer coefficient is 15 % higher than the plain tube due to increase in degree of swirlKeywords:Circular tube, twisted tape, Heat transfer coefficients and Reynold number ×

Transmission lines in power system network operate close or beyond their thermal limits are said to be congested. In deregulated electricity markets the problem is more likely to occur due to unplanned power exchanges. Congestion management (CM) is accomplished mainly either by generator rescheduling or by load shedding. In load shedding reliability of power supply gets affected so re-dispatching the output of generator is better option to manage congestion while ensuring the system reliability. In generator rescheduling or re-dispatching independent system operators reschedule the generator output so that congestion has gotten rid off. In this operation independent system operator (ISO) commands the generator of low-price area to lower down its output while purchasing power from high price areas this will lead to an additional cost known as rescheduling cost..........Keywords:Congestion Management, Electricity Market, Generator Rescheduling, Particle Swarm Optimization, Sensitivity Factor. ×

Masonry structures are estimated to include more than 70% of the residential unreinforced masonry buildings (URM) in the world. The structures are highly vulnerable to earthquake shaking which leads to unacceptably many losses, even in moderate earthquakes. Most of the losses are gave rise to by failure of masonry structures. As destruction of the masonry structures is usually not possible owing to several factors, this increases the question if the buildings had better to be retrofitted. This work aims the development of an analysis methodology to investigate the dynamic behaviour of steel-concrete composite footbridges. The composite footbridge dynamic response is analysed based on two different strategies. Firstly, the traditional simulation of human walking, without consideration of the pedestrian-footbridge dynamic interaction effect is considered. On the other hand, the effect of the dynamics of the pedestrians while crossing footbridges in crowd situations is analysed and the pedestrian-footbridge dynamic interaction, based on the use of biodynamic models is investigated using a second strategy..........Keywords:Pedestrian footbridges, Biodynamic models, Pedestrian-structure interaction, Human comfort. ×

The Walsh and Haar spectral transforms play a crucial part in the analysis, design, and testing of digital devices. They are most suitable for analysis and synthesis of switching or Boolean functions (BFs). It is well known that, the connection between the two spectral domains is given in terms of the Walsh-Paley transform. This paper derives an alternative expression of the Walsh-Paley transform in terms of the Haar transform. The work demonstrates the possibility of obtaining both the Haar spectrum and the Walsh-Paley spectrum using only the Haar transform domain..........Keywords:Autocorrelation, Haar/Walsh-Paley, Power Spectrum, Recursive Transform, Spectral Transform ×

Seismic wavelet estimation is an important step in processing and analysis of seismic data. Inversion methods as Narrow-Band and theConstrained Sparse-Spike ones require information about it so that the inversion solution, once it is not a unique problem, may be restricted by comparing the real seismic trace with the synthetic generated by convolution of the estimated reflectivity and wavelet. Besides helping in seismic inversion, a good estimate of the wavelet enables an inverse filter with less uncertainty to be computed in the deconvolution step and while tying well logs, a better correlation between the seismic trace and well log can be achieved. Depending on the use or not of well log information, the methods of wavelet estimation can be divided into two classes: statistical and deterministic. This work aimed to test the sensitivity of acoustic post-stack seismic inversion algorithms to wavelets statistically estimated by two distinct methods.Keywords:Narrow-band, Seismic Inversion, Seismic Wavelet Estimation, CSSI ×

This paper describe software design of embodied energy (EE) calculation for building materials. Materials' EE is an issue in green building which refers to energy released in building- lifecycle of a material usage. Therefore, EE value becomes very important in measuring how much energy will be consumed and how environment can be damaged, since the planning phase of the building. The materials' EE calculation is called Material Unit Analysis (MUA). It was developed base on Work Unit Price Analysis or AHSP method as a construction material calculation method in Indonesia...........Keyword: Application, Building Material, Calculation, Design, Embodied Energy ×

Ferrites are ferrimagnetic ceramic materials with inherent useful electromagnetic properties. Of them, spinel-structured ferrites are promising materials for microwave device applications; stress/torsion sensors and energy storage applications like anode materials in lithium batteries, fuel cells, solar cells etc. Nanostructured spinels further have high and wide scope of potential applications. In the present study, two different types of varied sized ferrimagnetic lithium ferrite spinel nanoparticles prepared using chemical sol-gel auto-combustion method were chosen. The prepared spinel particles were heated at 300°C for 1h. After heating the powders were milled using a High Energy Ball Mill for 30 minutes to further grind the particles and then subjected to various characterizations. Structural characterization was done using X-Ray Diffraction Method (XRD)........Key words:Ferrite nanoparticles, Sol-gel auto-combustion method, XRD, FTIR, Magnetization ×

The study concerned copper and cadmium contamination in bottom sediments of selected surface water reservoirs at the urban area. The concentrations of the metals in sediments was up to 20-times higher compared with a geochemical background. Based on ecotoxicological evaluations, the toxic impact of cadmium in tested sediments can occur frequently, while for copper – it can sometimes be observed. The sediments can be classified as heavily polluted and dangerous to water biota, especially for sediment-dwelling organisms. The accumulation of metals migrating with the Służewiecki stream in reinforced reservoirs can result in their anthropopressure- related degradation..Keywords:copper; cadmium; water reservoirs; bottom sediments; ecotoxicological evaluation ×

The long-term benefits of green buildings are known at all levels of Government; hence efforts have been taken to promote and incentivize National Green Building Rating System- GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment). Presently, the GRIHA footprint is approximately 29 million square meters, which is less as compared to the pace of development in India. Having said that and presuming the existence of implementation challenges, this research study was conceptualized, primarily with the objective to understand the existing green building policies incentivizing GRIHA, the implementation challenges associated with it and finally formulating guidelines for effective implementation of green building scheme of the ULB (Urban Local Body)............Keywords:Green building scheme, Indian context, Implementation guidelines, National green building rating system, Urban local body. ×

Labor absenteeism has been identified as one of the main factors delaying construction projects. This paper reports an approach to quantitatively estimate the effect of labor absenteeism on the duration of construction activities in housing projects, using discrete event simulation. Absenteeism and productivity data from fourteen housing projects were used to estimate the effect of absenteeism on four construction activities from three different projects. Moreover, four different absenteeism scenarios were analyzed with this methodology: no absences of skilled or unskilled workers; with absences of unskilled workers only; with absences of skilled workers only; and with absences of both skilled and unskilled workers at the same time.........Keywords:Labor absenteeism, Discrete-event Simulation, Duration of construction activities, Productivity, Housing projects ×

The use of pulse width modulation with selective harmonic elimination (SHE-PWM) in cascaded H-bridges (CHB) multilevel converters allows the reduction of the output current distortion by the elimination of low order harmonic components. However, voltages produced by CHB modules to synthesize the SHE-PWM pattern is an issue that deserves deeper investigation. CHB systems fed by sources with current source characteristics, as photovoltaic strings operating with MPPT, may feature dif- ferent source capacities. Thus, it is important that the energy provided by each module is proportional to the available energy, so input voltages remain balanced. This paper presents the development of a genetic algorithm (GA) to determine optimal waveforms to be synthesized by the CHB modules that ensures the equalization of the fundamental components, or even that a specific relationship between between them is achieved. Simula- tion results for five and nine-levels demonstrate the applicability of the technique, allowing the voltage balance of the DC buses tobeaddressedeveninthemodulationstage..Keywords:Genetic algorithm, modulation, optimization, multilevel inverters, harmonic elimination, THD ×
