Abstract:
In the current context of climate change, the definition of effective and efficient adaptation strategies requires a good knowledge of climate risks at the national or even local scale. This article proposes a spatio-temporal analysis of climate risks in the district of Borgou in northern Benin. Daily satellite observation data of rain (TAMSAT) and temperature reanalysis (ERA5) corrected for bias (quantile-mapping) over the period from 1981 to 2019, as well as in-situ observation data over the period from 1960 to 2019 were used. These data made it possible to estimate the trends of 03 agro-climatic indices and 03 indices of precipitation and extreme temperatures using the Sen slope, then to statistically evaluate these trends by the Mann-Kendall test or the of Mann-Kendall modified according to whether the series are stationary or not.The results revealed a significant trend towards a late start to the rainy season throughout........Keyword: Climate risks, Spatio-temporal, Borgou, North-Benin. ×

Anon-isolated dual input dc-dc converter that is useful for EV application is discussed in this paper. The converter combines two energy storage devices (supercapacitor and lead acid battery) using four switches, an inductor and a capacitor. This converter topology has a similar operation as that of a conventional DC-DC converter. Compared to other MIC topologies, the proposed converter has less output current ripple because of its high voltage gain. In this work, different operational modes, steady-state output equation and boundary condition of the converter is studied. The speed characteristics of BLDC motor using the converteris also analyzed in MATLAB/Simulink.Keyword: Multiple Input Converter(MIC), Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Hybrid Energy System (HES), Electric Vehicle (EV), power electronics ×

Behavior of multi storey building during earthquake motion depends on structural configuration. Irregular configuration either in plan or in elevation is recognized as one of the major causes of failure during earthquake. Thus irregular structures, especially the ones located in seismic zones are a matter of concern of failure of infill wall effect. Structures generally posses combination of irregularities and consideration of a single irregularity may not result in accurate prediction of seismic response. Hence, the present study addresses the seismic response of reinforced concrete structures possessing various combinations of irregularities with and without infill walls. Eight storied three types of building frames (Regular frame, inverted T frame and stepped frame) is taken for project work. The Performance of different configuration of building frame i.e. Bare frame, Full infill Frame, 50% Bottom Infill Frame, 50% Top Infill Frame in SAP2000 software is used for design. For all configurations Non Linear static Push Over analysis is done..Keyword: Irregular structure, Combinations of irregularity, infill, SAP2000, Non linear static ×

To guarantee a high rate of heat dissipation, the majority of industrial engineering systems that involve heat transfer employ various kinds of heat exchangers. All heat exchangers include solid protrusions with metal fins in a variety of geometric designs. The objective of these protrusions is to maximize the heat transfer rate by raising the transmission coefficient and the performance of the fin. In this study, an experimental inquiry is conducted to examine the performance impact of fins orientation utilizing square plate type for broad temperature ranges ranging from 60 to 110oC. Due to the fins' vertical position and the fact that they are formed of metals with defined length, breadth, thickness, and material type, the system exhibits a steady natural load.
